Multi-Entity Asset Trace

Instructed to trace development funding and capital deployment across a group of related entities. The accounting records were incomplete and inconsistent, requiring reconstruction from underlying bank statements and corporate filings. The resulting schedules identified significant discrepancies between the recorded and actual positions, forming a central part of the evidence at trial.

Evidential schedules relied upon at trial

"Where the records are incomplete, the transactions themselves become the primary evidence. Every transfer tells part of the story."

How We Work

How does forensic asset tracing work in legal proceedings?

01
Document Gathering

We identify and request all available financial records: bank statements, accounting records, company filings, property registers and relevant third-party data. Where records are incomplete, we work from what exists and document the gaps clearly.

02
Transaction Analysis

Every credit and debit is reviewed and categorised. We build transaction schedules that follow funds through each entity, account and individual, identifying the destination and current status of each asset. Patterns that suggest concealment or deliberate obfuscation are documented.

03
Evidential Schedules

We produce clear, numbered schedules and an independent expert report mapping the flow of funds and identifying assets available for recovery action or court order. Our analysis is structured so that it can be relied upon at trial and withstand cross-examination.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions about asset tracing.

  • Forensic asset tracing is the use of financial analysis techniques to identify, follow and quantify assets that have been moved, concealed or misappropriated. In legal proceedings it produces the evidential foundation for recovery actions, freezing orders and enforcement of judgments.
  • Cash transferred between bank accounts, real property acquired with misappropriated funds, investments, loan accounts, shares and interests in companies, vehicles and other personal property. We trace the movement of funds from the point of misappropriation through to their current form, wherever that leads.
  • Incomplete records are a common feature of asset tracing instructions. We work from bank statements, third-party invoices, Companies House filings and any other available primary sources. Where gaps remain, we document them clearly and, where the evidence permits, draw inferences that can be properly supported.
  • Yes. A well-constructed asset tracing analysis identifying where funds have been moved and what assets they have become can support an application for a Worldwide Freezing Order or asset-specific injunctive relief. We produce evidence in a form that is suitable for use in urgent court applications as well as full trials.
  • We work closely with solicitors and Counsel throughout the matter, from the initial investigation phase through to trial preparation. We can provide preliminary analysis quickly where an urgent application is needed, and more detailed expert evidence for the substantive hearing. All work is treated as confidential from the first instruction.
